MSc Computing Science | Web Development | Data Analysis | Data Visualisation
Explore my portfolio — from web development projects and data visualisation tools, to examples of professional analytical work, reimagined through modern web technologies.
A brief overview of who I am and what I bring to my work.
I am a recent MSc Computing Science graduate with a strong interest in applying technology to solve real-world problems. My background combines experience in project delivery, data analysis, and technical support with a creative approach to design and usability. I enjoy working across different areas of computing, from developing practical tools and workflows, to exploring web and software development. Adaptable and eager to learn, I bring persistence, attention to detail, and a willingness to take on new challenges.
Overview of my computing, analytical, and technical skills.
I have worked extensively with Python and SQL on academic projects where I cleaned, analysed, and visualised GPS movement data. One of my key projects was the Stork Movement Explorer, a web-based mapping tool built using JavaScript, Leaflet, and Express. It connects backend clustering processes with an interactive front-end map.
I am also highly experienced in Microsoft Excel, having created a range of reporting dashboards, including an automated competency database now used across NPS and the Norse Group. These tools combine advanced formulas, VBA automation, and SharePoint integration to make reporting more efficient and accessible.

An automated reporting dashboard built in Excel and VBA, used across NPS and the Norse Group to track staff competencies.
Designed and implemented reporting solutions that turn complicated datasets into actionable insights. Examples include a resource analysis suite at NPS and interactive dashboards for MSc research data. Experienced in creating data workflows with Power Query, VBA, and custom scripts.
Collaborated with cross-departmental stakeholders at NPS, ensuring resource and competency data was reliable and accessible. Presented project progress to clients and councils during my role as Project Coordinator at Anglian Building Products. Adaptable in explaining technical processes to non-technical audiences.
Set up the Competency Database at NPS independently, from requirements gathering to implementation. Managed personal research and development during MSc Computing Science, balancing multiple projects and deadlines.
Quick to learn new technologies, demonstrated by moving from Excel-based process automation into full-stack web development during my MSc. Always looking for opportunities to expand technical knowledge, including recent exploration of cloud platforms and data pipelines.
Professional roles and responsibilities.
A postgraduate programme focused on advanced computing techniques, programming, data science, and software engineering principles. Awarded Distinction overall.
Developed strong analytical, strategic, and communication skills through coursework and a year in industry, focusing on applying marketing theory to real-world organisational challenges.
Provided a foundation in business operations and management principles, complementing later marketing and analytical studies.
Studied A-Level Graphic Design with an emphasis on hand-rendered artwork, layout, and typographic design. The course focused on traditional illustration, photography, and print-based projects, developing creative and technical skills before the widespread use of digital tools.
Achieved eight GCSEs at grades C and above, including English, Mathematics, and Dual Science.
Each week after work, I join a group of colleagues from Norse at Highball Climbing Centre in Norwich for a bouldering session — often followed by a well-earned coffee and cake!
Bouldering offers a mix of social connection, physical challenge, and problem-solving. It helps build stamina, focus, and a positive mindset, while providing a real sense of achievement with every climb.
I’ve found it a great way to improve both physical and mental well-being. Staying positive and committing to the climb has taught me that you can often achieve more than you think.
My passion for photography began with a fascination for the night sky. I bought a Dobsonian telescope and later a camera, hoping to capture the stars and planets I’d been observing. Over time, I started using binoculars too — initially for stargazing, but gradually my focus shifted from the sky to the natural world around me.
Visiting nature reserves across Norfolk and Suffolk with my wife soon became a favourite pastime, and I found myself drawn to photographing birds and wildlife. After investing in a telephoto lens, I was completely hooked. From elegant Marsh Harriers and Great Crested Grebes, to rare visitors like Cranes, Bee-eaters, and Glossy Ibis, I love capturing both the familiar and the unexpected moments nature offers.
I process and organise my images using Canon’s Digital Photo Professional 4 software, where I enjoy bringing out detail and atmosphere, while keeping the scene true to how it was experienced.
Director of the East Hills Residents’ Association Ltd, overseeing four residential blocks. Brown & Co, Norwich, manage the estate under the board’s direction.
For over twenty years, I’ve been building my own PCs. I love the process, from choosing the perfect motherboard and CPU, to connecting the components in just the right order. It’s a bit like building a Lego or Meccano set, but with circuits, cooling fans, and that first satisfying boot-up at the end.
I hold a full UK driving licence from 1995, which includes the pre-1997 entitlements for towing and minibus use, something newer licences no longer offer.
